Tara (Sanskrit: तारा, tārā; Tib. སྒྲོལ་མ, Dölma), Ārya Tārā, or White Tara, also known as Jetsun Dölma (Tibetan language: rje btsun sgrol ma) in Tibetan Buddhism, is an important figure in Buddhism. She appears as a female bodhisattva in Mahayana Buddhism, and as a female Buddha in Vajrayana Buddhism. She is known as the "mother of liberation", and represents the virtues of success in work and achievements. She is known as Tara Bosatsu (多羅菩薩) in Japan, and occasionally as Duōluó Púsà (多羅菩薩) in Chinese Buddhism. Tārā is a meditation deity worshiped by practitioners of the Tibetan branch of Vajrayana Buddhism to develop certain inner qualities and to understand outer, inner and secret teachings such as karuṇā (compassion), mettā (loving-kindness), and shunyata (emptiness). Tārā may more properly be understood as different aspects of the same quality, as bodhisattvas are often considered metaphors for Buddhist virtues. There is also recognition in some schools of Buddhism of twenty-one Tārās. A practice text entitled Praises to the Twenty-One Taras, is the most important text on Tara in Tibetan Buddhism. Another key text is the Tantra Which is the Source for All the Functions of Tara, Mother of All the Tathagatas.[2] The main Tārā mantra is the same for Buddhists and Hindus alike: oṃ tāre tuttāre ture svāhā. It is pronounced by Tibetans and Buddhists who follow the Tibetan traditions as oṃ tāre tu tāre ture soha. The literal translation would be “Oṃ O Tārā, I pray O Tārā, O Swift One, So Be It!.” Тара (санскр. तारा [tārā] IAST, тиб. སྒྲོལ་མ་ [Drolma] «Спасительница») — одна из главных бодхисаттв (идам, просветлённых существ) буддизма. Она родилась из слезы бодхисаттвы Авалокитешвары, когда тот оплакивал страдания мира. Из упавшей слезы вырос лотос, и из него родилась Тара, ставшая его женой. Зелёная Тара Цвет тела Зелёной Тары (тиб. sgrol ljang ma) указывает на её принадлежность к семейству Будды Амогхасиддхи, трансцендентального Будды, занимающего северную сторону Мандалы. Она восседает на лотосе, солнечном и лунном дисках. Её правая нога спускается с сидения, тем самым символизируя готовность Тары мгновенно прийти на помощь. Левая нога согнута, и находится в состоянии покоя, лалитасане (санскр. ललितासन, lalitāsana IAST). В руках она держит голубые цветы лотоса (утпалу санскр. उत्पल). Считается, что Зелёная Тара появилась из слезинки правого глаза Бодхисаттвы Арьябалы. Цвет её тела символизирует активность и мгновенное исполнение любой просьбы верующего. Её мудра выражает дарование окончательного просветления. Человек, начитывающий её мантру, (Om Tare Tuttare Ture svaha) побеждает всех демонов, уничтожает препятствия и достигает исполнения желания. Особенность чтения мантры Зелёной Тары заключается в том, что чтец может не помнить всю мантру целиком. Существует легенда, что один человек шёл по мосту и вдруг, находясь на середине моста, увидел демона, он повернулся назад, и сзади тоже стоял демон. Человек не помнил всю мантру до конца и читал то, что помнил. Зелёная Тара снизошла и помогла ему. Считается, что когда человек моргает, за то время, пока его глаза закрыты, Зелёная Тара успевает тысячу раз облететь вокруг земли, поэтому она успевает помогать каждому, кто её об этом попросит. При этом несколько лет назад в древней столице Китая городе Сиане был случай, когда при стотысячном начитывании мантры Зелёной Тары прозрачные хрустальные чётки практикующей, по имени Ятоу (丫头), поменяли свой цвет на зелёный, что свидетельствовало о синхронизации данной йогини с Зелёной Тарой.
